Obituary for Terry King
Terry King, age 60 of Sheridan passed away from an apparent heart attack at his home on Crooked Lake on Wednesday, December 6, 2017.
He was born the son of Rev. Robert and Marie (Plocek) King on March 21, 1957 in Montpelier, Ohio and they along with an infant son, Clinton Gregory, have preceded him in death.
Terry is survived by his children, Daniyel (Gregg) McAlvey of Carson City; Robbie (Crystal) Sharrard of Carson City; Kyle King of Carson City; sister, Marsha (Ron) Baker of Pioneer, Ohio; brothers, Alan (Heidi) King of Mission Viejo, California; Greg (Peg) King of Greenville; grandchildren, Carter, Carli, Connor McAlvey; Brodie, Samantha, Sophia Sharrard; many nieces and nephews and special friends, Steve and Chad King, Butch and Sandy Klingbeil, Scott and Lynn Crosby and Mark Herzog.
Terry was a graduate of Central Montcalm High School, Central Michigan University, and Ferris State University. Terry also attended Michigan State University. He was the Community Coordinator for the Montcalm and Ionia Counties Department of Health and Human Services. As a social worker for the State of Michigan, Terry dedicated countless hours working for people in need in Montcalm and Ionia counties.
He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer with plans to retire in the future and improve his golf game. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family, especially his kids and grandkids. It didn’t matter if it was going to their sporting events, school activities, taking everyone on pontoon tours of Crooked Lake or just hanging out with them. If he was with his family, Terry was content and happy.
He was also a devout Michigan State Spartan fan and rarely missed attending a home game with his good friends, Scott and Lynn Crosby.
Terry lived out his strong Christian faith and he leaves all who knew him with a legacy of kindness, grace, and generosity.
