He was born in Ionia, the son of James & June (Reed) Kinney and is preceded in death by them as well as his step father, Ellis Shotwell, great granddaughter, Angelia and nephew, Gregory Shotwell.

Steve is survived by his children, Darcie Thomas of Greenville; Wesley Kinney of Portland; Holly (Ray) Reed of Lyons; sisters, Jane (Patrick) Hummel of Ionia; Kitty (Thomas) Lower of Ionia; brothers, James Kinney of Ionia; Jeff (Becky) Shotwell of Sheridan; Scott Shotwell of Ionia; grandchildren, Stephanie and Amber Thomas; Tabitha Kinney; Zach and Alex House; two great grandchildren, Eli and Donavan and one soon to be born great grandson, Max and special friend, Amy Gibson of Holland.
